Het Museum Van is a small museum experiment and changing display of artworks, collections and ideas questioning: how, what and who is a museum?
It is situated in the window of Mathenesserdijk 430 (Rotterdam) and online.
Mathenesserdijk 430 was once the house of Roeloff, who owned the Fabriek next door called Roeloffs Textiel Stomerij en Ververij.
The family and domestic workers of Roeloff lived in this house whilst the factory was still in working order. When the family no longer lived in Mathenesserdijk 430, it took on several other functions such as assisted living for people with disabilities, a speech therapy office and now a shared house.
Het Museum Van started in 2020 as a (small) testing space to reflect on histories, stories and exchanges. Neighbours and friends are invited to participate, to show collections, artworks, objects or ideas.
This website is a space for collections and connections to emerge.
